Jeff Griggs was born in Quincy, Illinois, and attended Illinois colleges before becoming a radio host and weekend TV weather forcaster. He quit the media to study improvisational theatre at ImprovOlympic. He is now an actor, director and improviser in Chicago. He teaches at IO. He is the author of the book “Guru: My Days with Del Close”.
Jeff Griggs is a gifted writer with a penchant for dark comedy that never strays from its authentic mainstream Midwestern source. He is also an actor, director, and improviser associated with Chicago’s influential ImprovOlympic and famed Second-City Television. His screenplay from his recently published first book, GURU (Ivan R. Dee, April 2005), about his days with Del Close, the legend of improvisational theater, has been picked up
for film with Harold Ramis directing the production.
