Hip.Bang!
All things Hip.Bang! Hip.Bang!'s unique brand of absurd scene work and playful theatricality engages and delights audiences. While they explore real emotions and honest situations, Hip.Bang! simultaneously allows those scenes to be expressed through characters and settings that are themselves liberated from the real world. The show that comes from this philosophy is fresh, hilarious, and hard to predict. Their form, therefore, is less a structure and more the form that the content takes. They allow the absurd to enter our scenes while keeping them resolutely grounded in real emotions and the combination takes their sets in different directions structurally. The format is Hip.Bang!, it's how they do scenes that shapes their shows and makes them unique. They have been a duo since 2008 and have been performing at least monthly in Vancouver or abroad since, including repeated appearances at the Up Front Theatre in Bellingham, Washington, Rapid Fire Theatre in Edmonton Alberta, and with the Impromaniacs in Victoria, British Columbia. In 2010 we were featured in Rapid Fire Theatre's Improvaganza Festival and made their second appearance at the Vancouver International Improv Festival (as part of the Cascades program). Both fellows are long-time players and former presidents of UBCimprov, founding cast members of Instant Theatre, cast members of Vancouver Theatresports League (Tom as part of CLASH) and are co-founders of the Pump Trolley Comedy collective. They also produce a bi-monthly improv show showcasing the best in Vancouver improv called 10 SPEED. Hip.Bang!'s is Tom Hill and Devin Mackenzie. CIF Show:
