"The Funniest Week in Chicago!" is back for 1999. CIF is even bigger, better, and funnier than before featuring two locations: The Annoyance Theatre located at 3747 N. Clark St., and a second location at The ImprovOlympic, 3541 N. Clark. CIF presents 15 different performances with 3 ensembles per show. CIF features 48 of the finest improv and sketch comedy ensembles from Chicago, the USA and Canada. These include the triumphant return of Comedy Central's Upright Citizen's Brigade performing two shows; ABC-TV's "Whose Line Is It Anyways" cast member Colin Mochrie performing a 45 minute improvised performance called "The History Of Improv"; the Chicago debut of F/X's The Groundlings, Los Angeles' premiere improv-comedy group, now in their 25th year. Chicago's best ensembles will be performing including: The Second City, ImprovOlympic, The Annoyance Theatre, The Free Associates, Factory Theatre, ComedySportz, Musical!, The Musical, Zeitgeist Theatre, and many more! Also performing is New York's hottest group -- Burn Manhattan, the return of Minneapolis' famous Brave New Workshop, and Montreal's funniest group -- On The Spot! This year's Festival is dedicated to Del Close. The Chicago Improv Festival honors his lifetime's work as Teacher, Director, Actor and Artist. CIF is produced by Frances Callier and Jonathan Pitts. |
