CIF 2012 Performers' Info
CIF OFFICE:
CIF's office is located in the Athenauem Theater, 2936 N. Southport Ave, second floor. If you want to check in during the day, you're more than welcome to stop by and pick up your CIF wristband.
CIF WRISTBANDS:
Instead of badges, we've got a CIF wristband for each CIF 2012 performer. This wristband is your CIF ID and gets you discounted tickets, free tickets, and entrance into the CIF parties.
You can pick up a wristband one of three ways:
1) During the day, at the CIF office from CIF staff.
2) On your the night of your show from the Venue Manager at your venue.
3) At the parties, from one of the CIF party hosts.
You will be able to only pick up your own wristband and you won't be able to get one for a team-mate. When you ask for a wristband, the staff, VM, or party hosts will ask you which team you are with.
DISCOUNTED TICKETS & FREE TICKETS & COMPS:
Discounted - The CIF wristband will get you $5 tickets for every CIF show except Tuesday night's show at SC ETC (and any of the shows at the Athenauem Theater). In order to get the $5 tickets, you have to wait until 5 minutes before the start of the show and check in with either the venue's box office or the CIF venue manager. We will seat paying customers first. If there are seats available, we will sell them to CIF performers for $5.
Free - The CIF wristband will get you FREE tickets for any CIF show at the Athenaeum Theater (Studios 1, 2, 3). In order to get the free tickets, you'll have to check in with the CIF's venue manager or house manager. At 2 minutes before the start of the show, they will let you in. We will seat paying customers first and after that, we will squeeze in everyone we can. At the Athenaeum, there is a bar on the first floor and they will be opening up another bar on the second floor, so come support your fellow improvisers, get your drink on and have a blast at CIF central!
Comps - We only give comps to press and industry (casting agents, managers, etc), so if you've got either arriving for your show, please let me know 24 hours prior to your show so that I can arrange for their comps.

There will be no intermissions. If you want to call your own out from stage, you are welcome to do so. If you have a special out for your show, please communicate what you need and how your show works to the Light Board Operator prior to the start of your show. If you have someone who you want to sit in the tech booth to call your out, they are welcome to sit in the tech booth but they can't run the boards.
MARKETING/PROMOTION:
I want to thank you so many of you for promoting your show on Facebook (either your page or as an event). With CIF in 2012, we do a lot of online marketing (AV Club, Metromix, Reader, RedEye, Suntimes & Tribune) and we also take out a 1/4 print ad in the Onion. We had 300 11x17 four color CIF posters distributed in 17 Chicago neighborhoods and 1,500 postcards dropped off to Chicago's many improv theatres and training centers. We also have received 9 preview articles from the Chicago press and one of the acts (All Girl Revue from Los Angeles) will be on WGN-TV next Tuesday. Even with all this, we do need you to help promote your show to your family, friends and co-workers, so please keep the Facebook & Twitter streams, events, and status updates happening!
VIDEO & PHOTO DOCUMENTATION:
We video tape and photograph the shows as much as we can. We post the videos on our Vimeo page and the photos on our Flickr page. If you want to videotape your show, you are more than welcome to do so. Please inform the venue manager that you will be videotaping your show prior to the start of your show so that they will know. You are welcome to have anyone take photos of your show and you can take photos of anyone else's show too, just no flash photography!
WORKSHOPS:
We've got three great workshops taught by Susan Messing, Mark Sutton and Mexico City's ImproTOP. We've kept the workshop fees low and we've scheduled it so that if you want to take all three, you can.
1 WORLD ON 1 STAGE:
This show happens on Wednesday, 8pm @ ComedySportz. This year, we will have improvisers from 6 countries playing together (America, Canada, Germany, Mexico, Switzerland & Russia) and improvising in English as well as their native tongue. This show is always one of the most fun and inspiring of each year's CIF.
IMPROV FORUM:
On Friday, from 5pm to 6pm @ Athenaeum Theater, CIF's 4 Co-Artistic Directors will be in a shared panel discussion and Q&A as they talk about their lives in improv. This is a free event for all CIF performers.
JAM:
On Sunday, 1pm @ Athenaeum, this year's CIF Apprentice Team will perform, as will a CIF apprentice alumni team (See You Thursday). Then we will have a 45 to 60 minute jam with CIF performers. If you want to play in the Jam, please email me by next Saturday afternoon.
PARTIES:
We have parties happening on Monday @ Annoyance, Wednesday @ ComedySportz, and Thursday-Sunday @ Mullens Bar & Grill (Wrigleyville). At Mullens, your CIF wristband gets you a drink special. Also, at Mullens, we get 10% of the bar sales but only from drinks sold on the second floor (where the party is), so if you want to help support CIF, order all your drinks at the second floor bar.
PARTY LOCATIONS:
There will be free parties 6 nights of the festival week, with drink specials for CIF performers. There is no cover charge and the parties are open to everyone, so invite your friends! A portion of the bar sales are going back to CIF. All you have to do is show up Mullens upstairs room and have a beer or a mixed cocktail and that in itself will support the festival.
