Chewties! is the brainchild of four dedicated ladies whose no-holds-barred style of play has been known to make people faint…ok, maybe just that one time and she was actually sleeping. Never ones to shy away from ridiculous, these four brazen broads embrace the world of absurd through their daring physical and vocal choices. Interweaving grounded scene work with a fearless sense of play, Chewties bold and brash style brings a hilarious horde of characters to life. Chewties! has performed at the Del Close Marathon in New York City, The Michigan Improv Festival, The Playground Theater, The Annoyance Theater, the Around the Coyote Arts Festival, Mullens, and Gingers Ale House.
Chewties!
Carrie Barrett moved from Virginia to Chicago in 2000 to study improvisation at the iO and Annoyance theaters. Since then she has performed with the all-female group Bevy, played with TAG at "Second City Unhinged," performed solo improv in Sybilization, and presented her scripted solo show, Case Study, at iO. She currently teaches, directs, and performs at iO and co-writes and performs the acclaimed Fowler Family Radio Hour! Carrie graduated from the University of
Illinois at Chicago with a BFA in photography and fine arts video.
Alex Fox graduated from Emerson College in Boston and then came to Chicago where she has trained at The Annoyance, I.O., The Second City Conservatory and The Second City Music Improv Program. She was part of the cast of "58!" who went on to win "Best Musical" at the 2006 New York Fringe Festival after a run at The Annoyance and Second City's ETC Unhinged Series. Alex is a proud member of the 3 person improv group "Be Frank" who have performed at the Seattle Festival of Improv, Toronto Improv Festival, Los Angeles Improv Festival and performed at the Ars Nova Theatre in NYC. Miss Fox can also be seen on the team AIRBOURNE at I.O.
Megan Johns runs at life with her arms open wide and a knack for falling over. She has been trained at i.O. Chicago and at The Annoyance, and performs around the city and beyond with her 4 lady improv group Chewties! (it rhymes with cooties) and with her friends of The Chorus. She has most recently become a commercial spokesperson for the third largest bank in Rockford, IL (who cares about #1 and #2?), and during the days serves the hungry public at Deleece. She is part of an ensemble that wrote and now performs an original Annoyance Theater musical comedy called Stop that Show! She really loves her parents for being supportive and her bed for being so comfortable.
Rachel Lewis hails from Big Sky country (Bozeman, Montana) and made her way to Chicago after graduating from the University of Wisconsin—Madison with a degree in Theatre and Drama. She is a graduate of the Second City Conservatory, iO (formerly ImprovOlympic) Training Center, and the Annoyance Theater. Rachel has performed in the Second City Unhinged series in Dare to Offend and The Crying Diamond’s Absence of Absence, which was named critic’s choice in both the Chicago Reader and Chicago Tribune. She is ½ of the sketch duo, Keaton and Lewis, who have performed their original work at various venues throughout Chicago including, Donny’s Skybox, Sketchfest ‘06-‘07, Wordsfest, the Hot House, and most recently at the Playground Theater in a showcase for the HBO/Aspen Comedy Festival. Rachel also performs regularly at the iO Theater with the Harold team, the Washington Generals, and can be seen every Thursday night at 8pm at the Annoyance Theater in the original musical production, Stop That Show.
