For your laughter and entertainment, Johnny Lunchpail presents Spontaneous Theatre.  The cast is made up of four Johnny's: Johnny W, Johnny O, Johnny K and Johnny Rames Dio. Rooted in the generous playing of Viola Spolin's teachings, Johnny Lunchpail is a long form improvisational comedy group that uses no suggestions, just each other as inspiration.

The opening sequence is the spark that ignites a myriad of scenes, songs, and stories. The Johnny’s use their bodies and voices to paint palpable environments and their playing style can be fast and furious or deeply explorative and focused. What makes them unique is their diverse improv and acting backgrounds (Commedia Dell'Arte, short form, musical theater, long form, the Harold) and how they combined them all to create a totally unique theatrical experience.

Johnny Lunchpail has performed on almost every improv stage in New York City as well numerous festival stages all over the world.  Last year they received acclaim for their Main Stage performance at the Toronto Improv Festival by being chosen by Toronto’s NOW magazine as one of the 10 Best Comedy Shows in Toronto in 2005.  The write-up also captured the essence of a Johnny Lunchpail show: “Clad in dark blue industrial shirts, this quartet from New Yawk have a working-class look to match their guy-on-the-street name. Yet their improv comedy is anything but common. They've got a terrific sense of structure and visual play, mapping out scenes physically so they come alive for an audience. At their standout set at the summer's Toronto Improv Festival, they took us on a rough boat trip, into a haunted condominium and introduced us to a forklift operator with a thing for crushing people. They capped it off with a song about a mechanic that was hilariously well-lubed” (Glenn Sumi, NOW, Vol. 25 NO. 18).

Enjoy the show!
