“If you like your comedy mixed with a little rock ‘n’ roll, you’ll love Underbelly…”
    KTLA/CW

Underbelly is a high-energy longform improv show with rock music, based in Los Angeles.  The performance focuses on “Shining a light on the things we do in the shadows”.  The set is both comedic and dramatic, and runs about 45 minutes.  The show debuted at The Hothouse Spontaneous Theatre in North Hollywood in March of 2006 to a four-week sold out run. They then performed at The Denver Improv Festival in October.  In 2007, Underbelly will be performing at both the Chicago Improv Festival and the Phoenix Improv Festival, in addition to their local performances.

Underbelly was formed in North Hollywood, California when Brigitte Erickson invited some of her favorite improvisers to play with her and to explore the darker side of life in an edgy, late night show.  The cast includes Karen Forman, Tom O’Connor, Rebecca Field and Ross Steeves, in addition to Erickson.  All five players had performed at The Hothouse Spontaneous Theatre, and their longform style was inspired by the work there.  Underbelly has been featured on KTLA/CW during the What’s Hot in Los Angeles segment of their Weekend Round-up.  “If you like your comedy mixed with a little rock ‘n’ roll, you’ll love Underbelly…”  and they were also promoted on KLSX-FM (97.1) throughout the run.  When they performed at The Denver Improv Festival in 2006, they were interviewed on “The Murphy & Jo Morning Show” on Denver’s KOSI-FM (101.1), and were featured festival performers on the CBS affiliate there.
