PARK DISTRICT PARTNERS WITH CHICAGO IMPROV FESTIVAL FOR TWO NIGHTS OF LAUGHS DURING THE TEEN COMEDY FEST AUG. 15-16

Teens throughout the Chicagoland area take the stage at the second annual Teen Comedy Fest at the South Shore Cultural Center, 7059 S. South Shore Dr., Friday and Saturday, Aug. 15 & 16. The Chicago Park District and Chicago Improv Festival Productions co-present performances at 7 and 9 p.m. both days. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for students. Tickets are only available at the box office on the day of performances.

Teens ages 15-18 are also encouraged to participate in improv workshops Saturday, Aug. 16 at Ridge Park, 9625 S. Longwood Dr., from 10:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. The $50 fee for the day can be purchased the day of the workshops. Instructors from ComedySportz, the Second City Training Center, CIF Productions and Improv Playhouse will lead the workshops. Call 773.935.9810 for more information.

The Chicago Improv Festival (CIF) has been partnering with the Chicago Park District for the last three years at the Ridge Park Cultural Center, in the Beverly neighborhood to provide classes, develop an ensemble and give the teens an opportunity to perform. CIF also runs Park District? the theater camp at Ridge Park. CIF will teach teen improvisation classes at Ridge Park Saturdays this fall from 12-2:30 p.m. as part of the partnership.

The Teen Comedy Fest Artistic Director Emily Dugan curated the following schedule:

Friday, Aug. 15

7 p.m., Impulse Improv from Waubonsie Valley High School; Crystal Lake Central Freeze from Crystal Lake Central High School; Improv Playhouse Teen Ensemble from Libertyville's Improv Playhouse

9 p.m., Young Person's Company from Evanston's Piven Theatre Workshop; Harold and Maude from New Trier High School; All-State Improv Team from the Illinois High School Theatre Festival that consists of 14 actors from 12 different high schools located all over the state of Illinois

Saturday, Aug. 16

7 p.m., Beverly Big Mouths from the Beverly Arts Center; All-State Improv Team from the Illinois High School Theatre Festival

9 p.m., Teen Comedy Fest teachers play a set for students; The Laughing Aardvarks from Richards High School in Oak Lawn

10:30p.m., TCF All-Fest Jam featuring players from all the Teen Comedy Fest teams

PARK DISTRICT PARTNERS WITH CHICAGO IMPROV FESTIVAL PRODUCTIONS FOR TWO NIGHTS OF LAUGHS DURING THE TEEN COMEDY FEST OCT. 19 & 20

Teens from Local Improv Ensembles Show Off Their Wit

The Chicago Park District and Chicago Improv Festival Productions co-present the first annual Teen Comedy Fest at the South Shore Cultural Center, 7059 S. South Shore Dr., Friday and Saturday, Oct. 19 & 20, at 7 and 9 p.m. both days. Admission is $10. Each evening, three Chicago-area troupes plus a Seattle-based ensemble will perform. The culminating event both evenings is a post-show jam with all six teams.

The Chicago Improv Festival (CIF) has been partnering with the Chicago Park District for the last two years at the Ridge Park Cultural Center, 9625 S. Longwood Dr., in the Beverly neighborhood to provide classes, develop an ensemble and give the teens an opportunity to perform. CIF also runs Park District? the theater camp at Ridge Park.
